The Benefits of TMS Therapy

Oftentimes, people with major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or major depressive disorder with anxious depression struggle with their medication. Medication simply is not the best treatment for these patients. If you are experiencing challenges with your medication treatment, you may want to consider TMS therapy—a non-surgical, non-medication treatment designed to physically relieve the symptoms of MDD and OCD.

NeuroStar Advanced TMS therapy is offered by Dr. Deirmenjian at the Premier Treatment Centers of Los Angeles. NeuroStar is the #1 physician-recommended TMS therapy for MDD and OCD patients who have been unsuccessful with medication. For more information about the benefits of TMS therapy or to discover if NeuroStar Advanced TMS therapy is right for you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Deirmenjian today.

How Does NeuroStar Advanced TMS Therapy Work?

NeuroStar Advanced TMS Therapy is delivered at our clinics in Beverly Hills, Glendale, and Long Beach over the course of seven weeks in short, weekly 20-minute sessions. During your NeuroStar treatment, Dr. Deirmenjian simply places the NeuroStar treatment device against your head. The device will release pulses of targeted electromagnetic energy that are safely delivered to strategic treatment areas in your brain. These electromagnetic pulses are very safe and often compared to MRI technology. No adverse effects have been reported in clinical trials.

Dr. Deirmenjian specially applies the NeuroStar device to brain regions that impact your emotions, mood, and behavior. With the application of electromagnetic waves to these brain regions, NeuroStar “wakes up” your brain and stimulates activity in these regions. TMS therapy helps you achieve relief from your depression and OCD symptoms, with benefits such as mood improvement, fewer depression days, and an increased desire for social activity. Over time, your brain will learn to improve its activity independently.

Why Is NeuroStar the #1 Physician-Recommended TMS Therapy?

NeuroStar Advanced TMS therapy is a low-risk, non-surgical, and non-medication FDA-cleared treatment for our Beverly Hills, Glendale, and Long Beach patients with MDD, OCD, and MDD with anxious depression. TMS therapy has positively impacted our patients’ quality of living in a multitude of ways through benefits such as:

No Anesthesia Required

One of the most positive aspects of NeuroStar Advanced TMS therapy is that it does not require any sort of anesthesia. Therefore, this treatment is ideal for patients who cannot tolerate anesthesia. Throughout your NeuroStar appointment with Dr. Deirmenjian, you will be awake, alert, and comfortable. You are also welcome to relax during your appointment—some patients opt to read or browse their phone during treatment.

No Recovery or Downtime Needed

Unlike other invasive physical treatments such as ECT, NeuroStar does not require any downtime or recovery time following treatment. Immediately after your NeuroStar treatment at the Premier Treatment Centers of Los Angeles, you can go back to work and enjoy your social life and daily living without any hassle. Patients love how easily they can schedule their NeuroStar treatments into their lives.

No Systemic Side Effects

NeuroStar is an ideal treatment for patients who dislike the side effects of their medication or who feel that their medication side effects are interfering with their quality of life. Our treatment does not come with any systemic side effects that can be seen with medication. TMS therapy has been heavily tested in clinical trials, and in rare cases, only mild discomfort was noted by some patients. Even then, this discomfort is brief and can be easily managed with over-the-counter pain relief.

Additionally, this treatment is also ideal for patients who cannot adhere to their medication or find themselves switching between medications without positive results.

Rapid Symptom Management and Results

For optimal treatment results, we strongly recommend following the entire six-week course. Many patients have seen positive results from their NeuroStar treatment as early as their first treatment. However, most patients see results after the full seven-week program, lasting up to a year.

Nationwide Insurance Coverage

NeuroStar, an FDA-approved therapy, is covered in all 50 states by major insurance providers. Over 300 million Americans have insurance coverage for NeuroStar TMS Therapy. NeuroStar also provides financial assistance to qualifying patients. Speak to your insurance provider about NeuroStar eligibility.
